(I use "omx player" for a "gamepage for videos", and i use the gamegear sections for snes videos.works fine, I don't use videos that play when game is selected on the theme, these are videos that play after you click the game like your going to launch a rom) (install "vlc player", and use that player in your config files, you don't need to disable omx player) (omxplayer isn't set up for overlays, so it won't work integrated into themes playback, as you discovered) Tl dr Emulationstation crashes any time I turn the OMXPlayer off, and I don't know why.

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I can't seem to find a way around this, and Googling the problem (and searching this sub) doesn't help either. I first thought that maybe it was a problem I had introduced into my config code, but even when I load other themes that I've never altered, turning off the OMXPlayer will still crash Emulationstation. Here's where the problem comes in: whenever I try to disable the OMXPlayer (from the Emulationstation menu), Emulationstation crashes.

In this write-up, we will discuss the installation and the usage of the OMXPlayer on the Raspberry Pi 4 which has the Raspberry Pi OS Buster installed. The zIndex values worked great for images, but I couldn't get the zIndex to work with the snaps, and after some Googling I found that zIndex values won't work for the OMXPlayer. The OMXPlayer is the command-line media player which is specially designed for the Raspberry Pi by the Kodi team developers and is so lightweight that it can be run on the Raspberry Pi 2 and 3. Part of that involved adding new graphics, and adjusting their zIndex so the snaps will play behind an image (to make it look like the snaps are playing on a TV).

I've always used other people's wonderful themes on Emulationstation, but I've recently decided to customize a bit further and update the interface more to my liking. So my question is.I'm running RetroPie 4.4 on a Raspberry Pi 3 B+.

If a video starts to play in full screen and since I no longer can quit omxplayer, I have to watch the video to end so that the player will quit. This used to be working when I play a video file from lxterminal by typing 'omxplayer video.mp4'. For example, I cannot quit video by hitting 'q' on keyboard and nothing of the hotkey works. Now when I click on the video, it starts to play in omxplayer but hotkeys are no longer working. Since I cannot find omxplayer in installed application tab, I choose Custome Command Line tab and enter 'omxplyer' in command line to execute and again 'omxplayer' in Application name.

omxplayer does not support software decode omxplayer does not support advanced subtitles omxplayer does not support playback from ISO files. Now start to play from 6 seconds from memory and continue to buffer from file as normal. If its an i-keyframe, read data from file between 5 seconds to 10 seconds, as RAW video in to video buffer. omxplayer uses openmax which has been deprecated for a long time and isn’t supported with 64-bit kernels. Decoder looks for keyframe before seek time, found at 5 seconds. First time, I double-clicked on it, it asks me to choose an application to open the file. This is due to: omxplayer uses openvg for OSD and subtitles which isn’t supported on Pi4. I wanted to play video file by doubling click on it by using omxplyaer.
